The company grew by launching and acquiring publications, beginning with Maclean-Hunter Publishing Co. in 1945, and then becoming Maclean Hunter Limited in 1968 to reflect its diversification into broadcasting and cable television. Expanding in Québec with the launch of Châtelaine in 1960 and L'actualité in 1976, Maclean Hunter was acquired by Rogers Communications Inc. in 1994, which in turn established Rogers Media Inc., that today includes Rogers Publishing.
